Peeve-y Monday

You’ve heard of Freaky Friday, right? Welcome to Peeve-y Monday. In my day-to-day life, which includes internet contact, I’ve noticed something that irks me. Oh, there are no shortage of things that do, mind, but this is a new one.

Have you ever met someone who has to make everything about them? This gets on my last nerve.

Let me give you an example. Say you belong to a message board where people chat, share problems, and good news.

Sally Shygirl doesn’t post much, and she’s not a complainer, but today she comes to the forum with some good news. She’s gotten a promotion at work. Woohoo, go Sally! Right? That’s the right thing to post in whatever form you prefer.

But along comes Lydia Limelight, who can’t stand for Sally to get any attention. She posts: “Nice, Sally! This reminds me of the time I got called into my boss’s office, thinking I was in trouble, and he made me district manager!”

WTF, Lydia! This is NOT the place to talk about how awesome you are. If you need attention, make your own post. Don’t demand attention all over Sally’s good news.

And this doesn’t just happen on the Internet. I can’t count how many times I’ve tried to tell someone something and they have this look that says they’re not really paying attention; they’re just waiting for their turn to talk. It’s like, “Uh-huh, nice. Btw did I tell you…” Blah blah blah, on with my news! How hard is it to listen and care?

Don’t you just hate people like that? Give somebody else the floor, for crying out loud. It’s NOT all about you, Lydia.

(Sally and Lydia are not real people. You didn’t miss any big brouhaha.)

What pisses y’all off?

OMG….sounds like someone in my family….although from the hubby’s side!!!
What pisses me off right now? Politics in sports…not at a national level, but at the hometown level…it’ rampant…especially in hockey….really pisses me off

The list is too long–but your hypothetical ranks high in it.

Heh, I like the idea of Peeve-y Monday *plotting*

What kind of politics, Jules? Like national politics at local sporting events? That sounds sucky.

No,more like….the old boys school, where ya know if you’re not “in the club”, no matter how good you are…forget about making a rep or select team…frustrating for kids that aspire to play at that level, but because their roots are not from that particular town and they may not be “tight” with the dudes that run these organizations…they get cut….hate it.

I’m with you Ann. I do know a couple people like that. And I see that kind of behavior all over the internet. Why can’t people just be happy for each other?

What pisses me off???? Too much to go into.

Actually I just got back from running errands and I had to get groceries…and I was in the self serve line and the fracking #$#%#% in front of me decided to pay for her grocery order with a shitload of change…OMG it took her forever and then she tried to put a bill in and the machine wouldn’t accept…I swear I almost had a coronary…..OK…think I need a sip of rye now

  7. Ann Aguirre Says:

    Gah, sucky!

We don’t have automated lines here, but I seem to get behind old women who want to argue about the total a lot. They’ll have four items, totaling 54 pesos, and they want to argue to save 4 of them. I’m like, OMG, I will GIVE you the 4 pesos if you will just GO HOME and let me check out!

When my Out-laws (in-laws) talk about someone from 10 years ago that I met ONCE and expect me to remember. It’s a tad irritating!

    bullies piss me off

People that always find it necessary to correct someone else on silly little things just to make themselves look smart….Oooh, those people make me want to scream! I work with someone like that and I find it very hard to keep from slapping her silly sometimes. I guess that’s why it’s great to have a place to vent…like here, LOL!

Yes, that’s why I avoid most loops. Grrr.

People who send me event invitations at myspace and facebook for book releases. People who put me on their mailing lists for newsletters without my permission. People who spam my blog or myspace. Oh and people who don’t know how to navigate 4 way stops.
