Well, I’m trying to come up with a new title for my urban fantasy novel. I’ve thought of so many names that I’m starting to dream about it. It’s not easy encapsulating all the elements of a story into one pithy phrase.
So I figured I’d pick your brains. What sort of names snag your attention in the bookstore (or while you’re browsing online)?
Help me out! A random commenter will win any book they want from my backlist.

Usually is not the name but the cover that catches my eye. very seldom does the name catch my eye. Tell us more about the book. Maybe we can help you come up with a title.

Hmmm, so it’s the cover, more than a title? Interesting.
Well, this is an urban fantasy, where the heroine possesses the gift of psychometry. She’s spent her life on the run, and at the start of the book, is being dragged back to the life she left behind.

not gonna lie, had to google psychometry to see what it meant.
i think you should do something that has touch incorporated into it for sure.
contact…
heated contact.
i don’t want to say ‘forced contact’ because that feels like rape to me. something tangible, tactile, something have to do with what she touches. is there something that gives her that big
‘aha!’ moment? maybe something with that.
or soemthing to do with the fact that she was on the run.
concealed contact.
i dont know. just some thoughts

Maybe something with the word gift in it. Gift of Touch, Touching Gift, Unwilling Gift - titles are hard lol.

For me, it could be either the title or the cover or both. I would love to read this when it comes out.
“No Contact”
“Contact’s Gift”
“Enchantment’s Touch”

Vibes or Divine Vibrations

I agree that the cover, instead of the title, is what really grabs me first.
Don’t get me wrong…I DO notice the title, but it’s not usually the *first* thing that gets me. :o)

I like books that have short titles. If the type is cool that catches my eye too, although that doesn’t help with a title. Short and sweet is the best

What about just Touch short sweet and to the point.

Wow, Christy, those are good ideas.
Dena, I agree with you totally. I prefer short titles. One of my favorite authors, James Lee Burke, has some long ones that blow my mind particularly:
In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead
But for myself, I like the short ones.
Marketing wanted me to get away from the whole Touch idea, Pam. And I had no backup plan. Heh.

For me it’s mostly the cover that snags my attention in the bookstores.
How about The Return or Coming home?
