Okay, guys, contest time. In the comments tell me not how you are spending your summer, but how you want to spend your summer. You’ve just won the lottery and have no more debt and no more office job. How are you going to spend the next few months?
I’ll pick a winner by random drawing for a copy of Witch Fire or Witch Blood, or a download from my Ellora’s Cave backlist. Winner’s choice.
Happy dreaming!

Hmm.. lottery question.. thats easy.. first i quit my day job, hubby quits the army.. thats a no brainer as hes getting ready to leave for Iraq in a few months..
then a much longed for vacation.. hubby and i have never in 20 years taken a real vacation. We both want to go to Hawaii.. we keep saying someday when the kids are out of the house maybe we will have a couple bucks to our names..
then once all our debt is payed off, build a new house out here on the farm, and a big donation to the local humane society that i volunteer at, so they can finish of their capital campaign fund and get started on the new building they so desperately need… P.S.. if you happen to know any generous millionaires out there, i can hook them up with a tax deduction..hehe..

I have vacation time coming soon, so if I won the lottery I would book myself a vacation in Hawaii. I’ve always wanted to go for a little fun in the sun!

I want to spend the summer in Ireland, renting this little adorable house by the coast and going to obscure bookshops, cute little stores and museums. Also, spending all day at the beach reading my books.
Gah, that sounds like heaven!

I’ve won the lottery and have no debt nor worries?
I’m going to visit my family down in Mexico for a couple of weeks, then spend the next few months in Europe–staying at least two or three weeks in different countries and as many days as necessary in specific cities.
Okay, make that “taking a year off” instead of a few months–and that would only cover Europe. Next there’s Africa and the Middle East and then LatinAmerica and then China and then…
How big was this lottery prize again?
June 24th, 2008 at 7:37 am
I’d hop right to the beach! Stay in a house right on the water and just watch those waves roll in!
June 24th, 2008 at 7:44 am
If I hit the lottery and could spend my summer however I wanted. Hmmm. Traveling to beach places. Daytona, Galveston, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, the Mediterrainian. Yeah. lots of wonderful warm places with sun, sand and ocean.
Of course-that would be after paying down the debt, and helping out various family members who deserve it

Anya,
- so then I’d travel Asia with my parents. (And the sister if she wanted to.) I’d put 1 million in the bank or invest it, so if I need to I could live off that for a while - then I’d pay off student loans, possibly buy a house… and see how much time (and money) I’d have left to travel. I think I might set aside a bit of money so I can travel to various places that have restaurant week throughout the year. [Is it cheating to make plans past the summer?] Otherwise… I might buy a house somewhere. And books. I’d buy lots, and lots of books. And bookshelves.
Great contest, and great prizes! Hm… I’ve just won the lottery? [Oh no summer is 1/3 over!] Well…I’d be really tempted to skip my final on Friday. (Yes! Friday!) I’d definitely drop my second session class, and I’d go to Europe with my sister. I’m going with winning the big jackpot 9 digits here

WEll Hell, if I just won the lottery I’d scoop up hubby and the kids and we’d do a tour of Europe….spare no expense tour, I’d donate to the local animal shelter….come back from vacation and then have the bestest girls weekend evah…..I’m thinking Vegas baby, with all my girlfriends!
I’d have to take my lap top…so I could write!
Julie
ps…..I just signed a contract with Laura!!!!!!! Weehee!!!!

Yeah Jules!!!!! Welcome aboard! We’ll have to get you signed up for a guest blog spot in the next couple of months!

If I won the lottery, my husband and I would go on my dream vacation to Australia.
June 24th, 2008 at 11:05 am
Oh yeah, dream vacation! Would pack up my kids and hubby and take off to Europe for the summer. Especially Italy, Switzerland, France (watch the Tour de France, which my menfolk luv), and Ireland, for sure. Would hire drivers whenever possible and stay at bed and breakfast spots whenever we could. My menfolk are all great history buffs too, so would stop whenever and where ever they wanted, with no worries about the cost.

If I won the lottery and had no debt and had the whole summer free to go anywhere I wanted..
I would probably visit places that I’ve always wanted to go to like Hawaii and Alaska!
June 24th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
If I won the lottery, I would take my kids traveling to the places I’ve always wanted to go. Scotland, Ireland, Hawaii, Paris…. I would stay a week at a time and really enjoy it.
June 24th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
If I won the lottery my husband and I would visit Australia.
June 24th, 2008 at 2:06 pm
I would love to go on a Mediterranean cruise with stops in Italy, Greece and Turkey.
June 24th, 2008 at 2:30 pm
I with you Jane, I’d take a two month long cruise around the world, with stops in Italy, Greece, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, Morocco, Australia, Cuba, South America, etc…
Or I’d take my family and we’d all got to Europe for 3 or 4 months and just travel, and write, and explore, and learn about different cultures by living them.
June 24th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
Wow, I just had a 1day weekend and just won the lottery too and don’t need to return to work, woohoo!!!
I would love to travel to England & Scotland and this way i could stay longer since money was not a problem “wink: . I would have to return home often though to see my beautiful grandkids, would miss them to much, but then continue to go anywhere that I could.

i am spending the summer getting my daugher ready for college, my son in programs for his aspergers. Diagnoses hashed out, and maybe some relaxing and swimming hiking and boating in between
June 24th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
In Australia, looking at all the hot guys on the beach.
June 24th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
I want a nanny. That’s all. That way, when the kids aren’t in the middle of an adventure I want to be part of, I have someone to interact with them and oversee them and I can sit and write.
Not too much to ask, is it?
June 24th, 2008 at 7:16 pm
I want to be financially influent so I can quit the day job, hire someone to help watch the kids and take care of the house, and actually find time to write again. How grand it would be!
June 24th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
LOL! I meant affluent. Influent would be interesting though, huh?
June 24th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
pay off all bills, quit job and travel the us. Then start on the other countries. wouldn’t need a house for afew years lol.
June 24th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Around the world cruise for the whole extended family. With a few Nannies in tow (we have three babies under 6 months).
I’d need to take a trunk full of books to read pool side as well.
And I’d need to shop for a few new homes when I got back. And each one would need to be equipped with a maid and cook so as not to interfere with me finally getting through my TBR list.
June 24th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Oh I’d so love to North Carolina where the light houses are! I heard so much about it. I’d so love to be at the top watching the water and the boats and all that you’d see through there. I’d too love to stay there for a vacation living there and reading the days on the beach and through the window at the evenings. I’ve been so enchanted by what I read about light houses and how some worked and lived there. I’d love to be there on a vacation, or even an extended one to be around the beauty of the water up there!
June 24th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
If I won the lottery, I would take my family to visit my grandparents in Hong Kong.
June 25th, 2008 at 12:01 am
If that were the case, I’d bring my whole family for an awesome Eurotrip!!! Woohoo!! See the fantastic sights and eat all the delicious cuisine! That’d be a fab summer!
June 25th, 2008 at 6:07 am
Oh, if I won the lottery, my family and I would travel around the world and see all the wonderful places and people we have only read about in the past. I would love to visit the beautiful beaches and wander through the ancient castles of Europe plus see some of the fantastic museums. I would love to tour Africa and Australia and so many terrific places I have only dreamed about.
June 25th, 2008 at 7:27 am
On the porch, of a house, on a hill, on an island, in greece, writing
June 25th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Man, this is a topic I’d talk about prize or no.
I’d quit my crap-ass job, and register in college part-time for the fall semester. Write full time. I’d rent a swank place on the Outer Banks, NC and my boys and I would be there every weekend. Weekends only because they’re in year round school and start back up soon, plus I’d have to be on post untangling the red tape from getting the husband back home from Iraq and out of the Army.
June 25th, 2008 at 6:06 pm
If I won the lottery, I would also want to travel the Mediterranean, particularly Greece and Turkey. I would buy a lot of belly dance costumes in Turkey (because I’ve heard they are quite reasonably priced there) and maybe if I were lucky I would find someone there to take private lessons from. I would go to Athens (for the second time) and hire a private investigator to help me find the Greek boy who kissed me the last time I was there (he was ten years my junior, and so cute!), then if he was game, we’d go to Crete and Delphi and Mycenae together. I’d bring home some olive oil soap and natural sponges to pamper all my girlfriends with, and some lovely Greek wool to knit with. And when I went to the island of Aegina, they wouldn’t be out of pistachio ice cream!
June 28th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
If I won the lottery… I would also set up a birthday fund, so I could fly myself, my sister and a few friends to Vegas for an all expense paid weekend/trip. [My birthday was yesterday, and nothing went as planned and there was a lot of "friend" drama and stress. Much like all the other years - so... I think a fund would solve that problem. Maybe even a trust fund for that ] I’d also pay off my sister and parent’s mortgages.
