So this is my inaugural post on The Bradford Bunch. Kind of intimidating to be amongst my colleagues, peers, peeps - the ladies whose writing I adore and whose careers I cheer. Oh and did I mention they’re completely faboo? Funny how I sound like a fan girl. LOL. I am, but I also admire the amazing things these ladies have done.
I think I should start by letting everyone know who I am. My name is Beth Williamson and I am a romance novelist. I have twelve novels in paperback, number thirteen is being released December 29th. I also have seven novellas and various short stories, some of which are published in four paperbacks. Although I’ve been published for five years, I still feel like a newbie. My first NY book was only published this year in March and it’s been a wild ride, let me tell ya.
I’m a forty-something wife and mother with a mortgage, an eco friendly Toyota Prius and a full-time job in the technical writing field. I have two teenage sons who make my life very interesting (to say the least) and I live in horse country in rural NC. I wasn’t published until I was in my late thirties so I’m a late-comer compared to some authors. Yet I made it and I plan on sticking around for a very long time.
My books are mostly western historicals, very hot westerns with ah, hard alpha men and strong, kick-ass women. I also write contemporary erotica that make me wiggle when I write them. *snort*
I’m thrilled to be here on The Bradford Bunch and would love to get to know the entire world, so I hope the world is reading this.
Let’s see, for my first post, how about everyone who posts gets entered to win a copy of The Education of Madeline - my first NY book.
So say howdy, tell me you have no idea who I am, ask me what the heck I was thinking writing westerns, or even, what was the weirdest thing my teenage sons ever did. Ready, set, go!

Hi Beth from another Bradford Bunch newbie, my debut is in a few weeks. It’s nice to know more about you!

Hi Beth,
Westerns are fun and strong characters are all to the good. What was the weirdest thing that has happened on your journey to becoming or as an author?
November 26th, 2009 at 7:03 am
Thanks for the warm welcome y’all! I feel warm and fuzzy.
LLL ~ Good question. The weirdest thing that happened on my journey to becoming or as an author? That has to be my first Romantic Times convention in Daytona Beach in 2006. Wowza - I shared a house with a bunch of other authors and it was a wild five days. I was unwilling witness to a broken bed, cooking breakfast in underwear, and the knowledge someone was skinny dipping in the hot tub. It was a rather eye-opening lesson.

I just finished reading (over the last few days)the entire Malloy family books. You hooked me with the first one and I just had to keep going. I just bought Kincaid’s story and am hoping you’ll re-visit Chancetown and write Maria and Mark’s story! Thanks for keeping me entertained and just FYI…I normally don’t care for historical romance novels but yours drew me in.

Hi, Beth!!! OK, I’ll bite–what *was* the weirdest thing your sons ever did? I’ve got a few more years till we hit the teens, and I’m already quaking in my boots (so to speak ;)) Hope you enjoyed a fabulous Thanksgiving!

Aw, Sharon, that’s wonderful and awesome! Thank you so much for telling me.
Fedora ~ Okay, I’ll have to give several examples. Let’s see, DS #1 in first grade was dared by another kid to say every curse he knew. Of course he did, then promptly got suspended when the kid who’d dared him told on him. My kid SUSPENDED from school in FIRST grade. Yep, mine.
DS #2 - he’s my hyperactive bunny with a good heart but so spazzy to the point he can drive ya nuts. Aside from climbing on the chair in 2nd grade and dancing (true story), he does oddball things all the time.
So lately what have they done? Let’s see DS #1 got pulled over dressed in drag–he was a powderpuff cheerleader and had a truck full of idiots in the bed of his pick-up. It was VERY weird to hug my son wearing a bra.
DS #2 decided to give himself a haircut a few weeks ago. it was “too long” so he simply cut it. *slaps forehead*

Ooh, another Western writer for me to read! Cool. I am looking forward to reading your books.
And I liked reading about the funny son exploits…ah, teenagers. They make life more interesting for sure, lol.
November 28th, 2009 at 4:29 pm
LOL! OK, those are wonderful examples that I’m sure they aren’t pleased you’re sharing, but what a treasure to have when you’re meeting their serious girlfriends, eh?
My kids recently have been fascinated by “bad words”–my middle one started writing down a list of the worst ones she knew. I found the list and had to remind them that these aren’t words we use in conversation. *sigh* She’s 6.

Hi Beth,
I loved reading your book Wolverton Blood…it was such a great gothic romance…I happen to love those but rarely find enough being written in current times.
Congrats on your first NY book…although I’m not sure what an NY book is???

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I’d like to give a copy of The Education of Madeline to Linda G! E-mail me at cowgirlbeth@gmail.com and we’ll get a copy out to you. Congrats!
Anna ~ that book was written by Brenda Williamson, not Beth.
A NY book is a book published by a NY publisher. Sorry for being so cryptic!

That would be Linda H! Ugh - what a dork!
