Laid Bare Is Coming!

Wow, in just a bit over a month, my first contemporary erotic romance will be releasing from Berkley Heat! I’m pretty excited about Laid Bare. I’ve got a gorgeous cover, I really did love writing Erin, Todd and Ben’s story and it features two of my favorite things - Seattle and music!

Here’s the blurb:

Unexpected Desire…

It’s been ten years since clean-cut, sexy-as-hell police officer Todd Keenan had a white-hot fling with Erin Brown, the provocative, wild rocker chick next door. Their power exchange in the bedroom got under his skin. But love wasn’t in the cards just yet…

Now, life has thrown the pair back together. But picking up where they left off is tough, in light of a painful event from Erin’s past. As Todd struggles to earn her trust, their relationship takes an unexpected and exciting turn when Todd’s best friend, Ben, ends up in their bed—and all three are quite satisfied in this relationship without a name. As the passion they share transforms Erin, will it be enough to help her face the evil she thought she had left behind?

Here’s what some folks are saying about LAID BARE

“Every once in a great while, a book comes along that moves and surprises you in all the best ways. LAID BARE is one of those books for me. I was blown away by Dane’s brilliant rendering of this emotionally-charged, deeply erotic tale of second chances and redemption. I can’t say it enough: I loved this book!” Sylvia Day, nationally bestselling author of Eve of Darkness

Laid Bare is the hottest thing since Prometheus gave us fire. It’s also a tender love story that wrung my heart with its sweetness. Don’t miss this book.” –Ann Aguirre, national bestselling author of Blue Diablo

“It’s impossible not to love this story. The sex is sizzling, the emotions are raw. Lauren Dane has done it again. Laid Bare, quite simply, ROCKS!” — Megan Hart, author of DEEPER

In August’s RT Magazine, Laid Bare gets 4 1/2 stars and a Top Pick!

In a word, this book is amazing. All three characters are magnetic and thoroughly realistic. They’re expertly woven into a roller-coaster story that will have you crying one moment, aroused the next and laughing with glee at each triumphant step along the way. With menage and some mild M/M scenes, this is Dane’s best story yet!

Here’s the book video:

Starting Friday July 3, I’ll be running a contest all month long at my blog with books and authors’ favorite accessories - music, jewelry, scarves, socks, all kinds of stuff!

Good luck!

Souvenirs from my trip

Hi, everyone!

I´ve only been back from San Diego for a day, so I am still a bit jet-lagged. For a full account of my trip, check this out. Now that you´ve read that, it´s almost like you were there! But I have some pictures to share with you.

These were both taken at Barnes and Noble, by the way. blue-d-in-sd In every B&N we visited, BLUE DIABLO had fantastic placement on the New Paperbacks rack. I was quite excited to see my book near Janet Evanovich!

blue-d-in-sd2

But that´s not the best part of my trip.

book pr0n

Look at all those delicious books! Since I took only the minimum of what I needed, my overnight case was mostly empty. I proceeded to fill that sucker up with books. But don´t worry; I wasn´t 100% greedy. I brought back a signed copy of BARBIE & THE BEAST. I´m going to give that away to a random commenter.

Barbie & the Beast

So here´s the question you must answer to win: what was the last book you purchased and what made you pick it up?

PS - That Patricia Briggs you see there? Signed!! I love Mysterious Galaxy.

I heart vampires

Sorry I’m late to the party…life and all that…

Vampires, vampires, everywhere.  Everywhere you look on the shelves, and on TV, there are vampires.  And I have to say it makes me very very happy.  I love a great vampire tale.  I also like to write about them, as my latest Nocturne book reveals…The Vampire’s Quest.

thevampiresquest

The vampire in question is Kellen Falcon, the former ballistics expert from the Otherworld Crime Unit in Necropolis.  Now, he’s on a mission of his own. To find the cure for the disease running rampant in his veins before it drives him insane.

So in honor of Kellen and all the vampires out there…here is a list of my favorite vampire books/series (that are either about those vampires, or have vampires playing prominent parts in the story) TV shows and movies.  They aren’t just for Halloween.  Enjoy vampires every day of the year!

Books:

The Hollows series – Kim Harrison

Night Huntress series – Jeaniene Frost

Mercy Thompson series – Patricia Briggs

Wicked Game – Jeri Smith Ready

Leandros brothers series – Rob Thurman

Sonja Blue books – Nancy Collins

Anita Blake series (the first six books) – LK Hamilton

Morgainville Vampires – Rachel Caine

A Hunger Like No Others – Kresley Cole

Blood Ties series – Jennifer Armintrout

Vampires – John Steakley

Bewitch the Dark series – Michele Hauf

The Dresden Files – Jim Butcher

Shows:

True Blood

Moonlight

Supernatural (they had vampires once or twice)

Movies:

Dracula 2000

Dracula (with Gary Oldman)

Lost Boys

In the Dark

Underworld 1&2

Fright Night

Kiss of the Vampire

Van Helsing

30 Days of Night

Blade III (Ryan Reynolds is the bomb)

Do you have a favorite vampire book, or character, or show or movie?

One lucky commenter will get a book prize.

ETA: Big winna!

JANICU!

After checking the count twice (with major thanks to Andres & Azteclady), Janicu wanted it most, and she gets the prize pack. Thanks for playing. Look for an email shortly.

Guest Blogger - Delilah Devlin

I’m very happy to have Ms. DD here to blog.   She’s a fun, talented, lady that I’m thrilled to call friend…without further ado….

I’d like to thank the Bradford Bunch for hosting me today. I blog a lot. I’m not sure why. It may have to do with the fact I live a very solitary life and need a forum to connect with other like-minded people. First, I’m a writer, which means I live in a fantasy world most of the time. Second, I live in the boonies of Central Arkansas and choose not to venture out too often into town because I tend to come back with a really thick drawl, a hankering for fried chicken, and to desire to have my two front teeth pulled.

My family understands me. They only call when they want to make sure I’m still alive. They only call late in the evening because I tend to do my best work mid-morning to mid-afternoon, and if they do call early, they won’t know who they’ll get. It could be a bad-ass vampire hot for her first draw of blood after a long drought or a cowboy who’s been too long on the range and is ready for a hot bath, a beer, maybe a woman, and probably not in that order. They kinda know who they’ve reached by how I talk. My accent changes, the rate of my delivery changes, and I have to think for a long moment after they ask me how I am because I have to decompress to remember which “me” they are asking.

So, who am I today? I’m a demon, freshly awakened by the touch of an innocent human. I’m angry, horny, and I’ve just discovered that although I’ve been reanimated, I’m still in deep kimchi. So while I type this, I’m still running through a forest of writhing trees and vines, dragging a girl behind me as we try to evade the horrors slithering through the night. But it’s Friday, so that’s okay. I don’t have to be “writer me/mom me/daughter me” until Sunday when I promised to resurface and spend the day with the real family, at which time, mom will ask me what I’m working on and I’ll tell her until her eyes roll and she tries to remember if she dropped me on my head at birth.

I did come bearing a gift. Post to this blog and you’ll be eligible to win a signed copy of any of my pre-2009 print books (if I currently have it in stock—I have the majority of them).

texas20men_3271

One of Delilah’s latest releases is, Texas Men from Kensington Aphrodisia. “…Virile cowboys, clever plots and arousing descriptions will make readers sigh with satisfaction.”

A Long Day

This has been one incredibly long day. Because of the day job and a four plus hour trip north with two girls under 3 1/2, yes. But more so because I was without Internet. I had it this morning briefly and then as I sat down to get to work and do my post and all that jazz, it was gone.

I don’t know when I became quite so Net dependent, but I find without it my world feels very tiny and I get next to nothing done. Now we are at my brother’s place, and have Net again–yeah!–but it’s already after midnight and I am quite exhausted. As such, I am going to keep this short and leave it to announcing the contest winners from last week.

Congratulations to….

+ Sara Hurt
+ Lisa W
+ Jane
+ Dina
+ Jolene
+ kh

You were all drawn at random to received a signed paperback or ecopy of one of my books. Please email me at Contest@jodilynncopeland.com and I will get back with you as soon as I return home on Sunday night, given the Internet is back up. If it isn’t… shudder … well, let’s just hope it is! :)

Guilty Pleasures

We all have stuff that we don’t think people should know we like. So here I am, making my confession. Will y’all absolve me?

This video is a perfect example. First, I loooove the song. I know it’s not PC. I know it’s borderline offensive to women — and I so don’t care. This song makes me want to dance (and give that big booty a slap. It also kind of makes me want a pair of Apple Bottom jeans and boots with the fur.) So that’s my first confession. I’m not all about the emo music (Sorry, Death Cab for Cutie. I love you, but it’s not monogamous. I’m cheating on you with Hip Hop songs.)

Which brings me to my next guilty pleasure. I looooove dance movies, the more cliche the better. I’ve been trying to lay hands on Strictly Ballroom for a while now. So far I’ve met with no success. But a story where the mousy girl becomes sexalicious through the wonder of dance? (That’s the whole beauty of Dirty Dancing, isn’t it? I own that movie by the way. I can quote bits of it. And in my mind, they live happily ever after. Don’t ever bother watching Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights btw. It’s TERRIBLE. And I say that with the conviction of someone who has almost no standards where dance movies are concerned.)

There are a few I haven’t seen yet, like Take the Lead (Antonio Banderas, as a concerned teacher? Really? But ok, I’ll give it a shot.) And Dance with Me. But if it has dancing, I’m so there. I also love the “different social class” schtick, regardless of how played out it is.

So now that I’ve made my confession, I need two things from you. First, you have to confess one of your guilty pleasures. Second, you need to tell me if you know of any dance movies I may not have seen. Random commenter will be win a $10 gift certificate for Amazon. The contest wraps up two weeks from today.
