Hi, all!
Hope you’re having a great Wednesday! I’m afraid this post will not be particularly deep and thoughtful (sorry, I suck!). I’m working on my copy-edits for MIDNIGHT SINS and I’m trying to finish ‘em up today.
I also have several story ideas that are clamoring in my head. I’ve gotten lost in my thoughts a few times this week because I’m trying to pick and choose among these stories, and that getting “lost”–it’s resulted in my husband having to call my name several times…and him asking if I’m listening to him, at all? (The answer: No, um, sorry.)
Since I’m not contributing a particularly earth-shattering post today, I thought I’d give away a prize. Want an autographed copy of HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT ? (That’s the first in my Midnight trilogy; MIDNIGHT SINS is the second installment…) Then just tell me your favorite horror movie of all time. (I’m looking for some weekend movies!) I’ll be back on Friday to pick a winner.
Thanks!

I’m not big on horror movies, but I guess I’d have to say IT. or Christine. There’s another Stephen King one, I think its Firestarter? but I’m not sure if that’s the name

The scariest movie ever…is The Shining….just thinking about it gives me the creeps
June 25th, 2008 at 7:11 am
I don’t watch a whole lot of scary movies anymore due to my hubby working 3rd shift–yep I get scared and start thinking I hear things in the house! But there are two movies I remember that scared the living daylights out of me when I was younger and that was “The Thing”, and “Poltergeist.” I also liked “33 Days of Night.”

Hi Cynthia, oooo that is a very sexy cover! I would love to be entered for the giveaway, thanks! I love horror movies, especially Stephen King’s. My favorite one by him is It. After watching that movie I now have a fear of clowns. I can’t help but watch the movie though over and over again. LOL

Recently I’d say 30 Days of Night and 28 Days Later - I love love love scary movies!!
Movies I return to over and over? Alien and Aliens - the best gothic sci fi movie ever.
Uber creepy scary? The Audition - Japanese horror and seriously I thought I would have to sleep with the lights on for a week after I watched it.
BTW, fab cover!!

Rosemary’s Baby, The Exorcist, The Shining and Alien are some of my favorites.

Hi Cynthia!
So love the cover for MIDNIGHT SINS!!!! Oh Todd’s book, the partner in HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT. HOTTER AFTER MIDNIGHT is still the top read for me this year! I was totally enchanted with the story, it was totally unique! (If you gals haven’t read yet, run and read, I’d bet you can’t put this one down!). Cynthia, I’ll be patient for Todd’s story
I’m a wimp when it comes to horror movies, LOL
Honestly, last time my hubby took me to a horror movie and it was Poltergist, that I kept covering my eyes and he kept taking my hand down so I would watch it. I saw enough! Those chairs and things bending, her coming out of the TV and all. Well after the movie, he took me to a Pizzeria (I remember every detail of this date!). I was looking at the menus and he tapped my menu and I looked at him and he had bented a fork, just like in the movie, and I screamed right out loud in the resturant! That was the last movie he ever took me to, but married me anyways LOL
But with my vampires and werewolves and all my paranormal romances, I love the chill in reading those!

I agree with Stefanie, The Ring was really scary.

Don’t enter me to win, I already have a copy (and LOVED IT!). I’m not a huge fan of horror movies, but I do like Rose Red and I liked The Relic. *G* (Any scarier than these and I can’s sleep.)

*sigh* That’s CAN’T.

28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later are my current faves. My all time faves include Alien, Aliens, The Hitcher(the original), and Silence of the Lambs.
June 25th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
My favorite genre to watch! Here’s a list of some of my favs: Vacancy, Wrong Turn, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, All the Saw movies, Hostel, Turistas and 30 Days of Night.

How can I even think about horror movies looking at that book cover??!?! OOoooo eee that’s nice!
<– Me, panting! lol
*ahem*
*trying to concentrate here….*
28 Days Later really freaked me out.
June 25th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
I don’t do horror movies.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Ok the Excorsist still gets to me, still can’t really watch it.
But I do enjoy Dracula 2000, Lost Boys & Van Helsing to name a few. 30 Days of Night was kind of graphic, but good.
June 25th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
My favorites are the old ‘big bug’ movies like Them and Tarantula, The Black Scorpion and The Giant Mantis
June 25th, 2008 at 6:46 pm
I do not do horror movies. I stay freaked out for an embarrassingly long time afterwards. Loved Shaun of the Dead though. I think the last horror film I watched was… either the original version of The Eye(s) [the Cantonese film Jessica Alba re-did] … or the American version of The Grudge. Those were … ok.

Hi, ladies!! Hope everyone had a great day!
So, as soon as I started reading the comments, I saw that some folks don’t like horror–totally understandable. My husband used to be that way; luckily for our marriage (since I do spend many hours watching these shows), I converted him.
Me, well, I like the campy horror flicks the best–those really gory ones (like SAW–sorry, Teresa, the gore gets me), oooh…I can’t watch them at all!
And Azteclady, I definitely count Silence of the Lambs as a horror–that’s one of my favorites!
Now, some movies are just creepy–Jane and Stefanie mentioned The Ring–that was one that I had to close my eyes for!
(Caffey, I closed my eyes the first time I saw Poltergeist, too–actually, that tree scene has always freaked me out.)
Lots of titles on the list. I’ll definitely write these down for my weekend trip to Blockbuster. Hmmm…one that I think the hubby will love is Lauren’s The Audition. He enjoys watching the Japanese flicks (okay, so do I!).
Thank you all so much for the comments! Have a great night!

I loved The Lost Boys. Halloween was good, but I really don’t do too many horror movies. I was really creeped out the first time I saw Hellraiser.
I like movies that are bit suspenseful/scary rather than filled with blood and gore…like Rear Window, Psycho, and any of the old Alfred Hitchcock.
June 25th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre; still could have nightmares if I let myself think about the movie.
June 25th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
I don’t like horror movies. I always run to another room when a scary part comes on. LOL
But my scariest is:
The Exorcist
One Missed Call

I like to watch horror movies occasionally. Some of my favorites are: Cujo, John Carpenter’s The Thing, the Halloween movies, the Poltergeist movies, and Disturbia.
June 26th, 2008 at 6:35 am
My favorite horror movie is honestly hard to pick because I have sooo many favorites. So I guess I’ll have to pick just one. I was torn between writing down the original 1963 version of The Haunting and The Exorcist. At the end of the day I’ll have to say The Exorcist. Unlike many horror movies, they did an excellent job of giving you a great buildup to the big scare. They start with suspense, with great character development and then hit you with little scares until the real mayhem starts. Just like a good spooky book!
Happy editing and finding a new story idea, Cynthia!

I’m late joining in. I’m not a big horror movie buff either, but I’ll say The Shining. Jack Nicholson was pretty scary in that one.
June 26th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
No prize for me. Just wanted to say good luck with the edits!
June 26th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
I love all of the Saw movies! They are so scary and addicting to watch. The latest one wasn’t that good but I still love them. This book sounds awesome and I’d love to be entered to win it.
June 27th, 2008 at 1:32 am
Not big on horror either, though I did watch The Shining and Silence of the Lambs. Then there is that classic Pyscho, Norman Bates. Charles Manson - Helter, Skelter, creeped me out; Exoricst I never did or will watch. I remember my sister and a friend trying to get me to go to the movies with them, but I wouldn’t go.
