We wanted to ask Candace Havens about the couple, Jake and Alex, in her hot new novel “Dragons Prefer Blondes.” We hear this is one HAWT couple. Here’s what she had to say…
Q: Can you tell us a little about Jake and Alex?
A: Jake is head of security for Caruthers Corp. He’s responsible for keeping all the employees safe, as well as providing security for the Guardian Keys, including Alex and her sisters Gillian, Mira and Claire. Oh, and their brother Bailey. Taking care of 1000s of employees is a breeze compared to keeping up with the Guardian Keys, who protect our world from beings who would do it harm. The guy never sleeps.
And Alex is the Guardian Key responsible for keeping Earth free of Dragons. She’s also a club owner, who is successful at what she does. She doesn’t sleep much either, and always seems to be in the big middle of some kind of mess. Oh, and there’s the part where she’s almost killed on a daily basis. This irritates Jake to no end.
Q: How do they first meet?
A: At the “office.” It’s the super secret Caruthers compound where all kinds of other worldly, and very cool things are going on. Jake is responsible for knowing where the Guardian Keys are at all times. He and Alex have been butting heads for something, so when they finally come together for that first kiss, it’s explosive.
Q: We heard there might also be a Dragon Warrior names Ginjin involved. Is that true?
A: Ginjin decides he wants Alex as his mate, which is what ends up pushing her closer to Jake. She asks Jake to be her “pretend boyfriend” in order to get her out of the jam with Ginjin. Jake goes along with it, and well, the more time they spend together…
A: Would you call Jake an alpha male?
Q: Oh, yes. He’s a former CIA and FBI agent, and is extremely opinionated. He’s the one man who can put the headstrong Alex in her place. I always love it when they are in a room together.
Okay, gang, if that’s not enough to entice you here’s the blurb for her book…
Alex Caruthers is a sassy socialite who knows when it’s time to turn in her dancing shoes and kick some serious dragon booty. But when Ginjin—the dragon warrior who’s tried to kill her numerous times—chooses her as his mate, Alex finds herself in a situation that’s too hot to handle.
For help she turns to Jake, head of Caruthers security—and a total hottie in a suit—and asks him to pose as her boyfriend. Their relationship might be fake, but Alex can’t deny that one touch from Jake makes her burn hotter than any dragon could.

Beverly, Catie, Melissa and Sara, Thanks you guys for posting! I do hope you’ll check out the book/books!
Catie… I have no idea where the name Ginjin came from, but I remember seeing a picture of a guy with long silvery, white hair in a magazine and I thought he looked like how I see my dragons. Then the name was just there in my head.
After the book was turned in I found out it’s the name of a record label and an electronica group… and here I thought I was being so inventive.
