I love several of the things you mentioned in movies and books. One of the movies that has become a comfort film for me to see is Love Actually. There are too many great books to mention, but I love the way that romance has changed to leave the bedroom door open and that heroines have more of a tendancy to be strong people not merely reliant on the hero in the story.

It is strange how many turns life can take. The most significant things which happened for me in the last decade was learning about the internet, going from being an enforced stay at home mom for well over a decade (due to being abroad without work permit) to becoming sole wage earner, then due to hubby's work opportunities becoming single parent for almost all of the last year or so. Books especially are what have helped me through the ups and downs.
