I’m insane.

If you’re a writer, this may not come as a surprise to you. For the rest of you, strap in.

I want to take a moment and tell you about the year I’ve had. It’s been wonderful, so don’t think I’m about to complain. But if I was headed for insanity before, this year has certainly pushed me over the edge.

Why? Well, the short answer is success. Last July and August, I managed to sell a novella and two books to Kensington Aphrodisia, and got a fabulous agent in the bargain. Then I had to spend the year writing those books, meeting deadlines, working on e-published stories, editing, promoting, and all the fun things a writer gets to do…plus, I hold down a full time job as a university librarian. It’s been a busy year. And last week? I got another book deal with Kensington, this time for a novella and three books.

How made of awesome is that?

Like I said, not complaining at all. But what’s really freaking me out lately is that my first book is coming out. I’m in the Sexy Beast V anthology with Kate Douglas and Vonna Harper, who are both amazing authors (thank gawd it’s not me all by myself). And when I say the book is coming out, I mean it’s shipping from online booksellers. People can buy it. They can read it.

I think I might hyperventilate. Or dissolve into a quivering puddle of anxiety-laden goo.

What really lets me know I’m crazy is that I’ve had quite a few e-books release in the last two years. My work being out there in the world should be old hat by now, but this is different. I mean, my technophobic grandmother can go into a bookstore and buy it right off the shelf now. Don’t get me started on the idea of Grams reading my work or I really will hyperventilate.

Then, in December, I have a book of my very own coming out. Carnal Desires. It’s the follow-up volume to the world I introduce in Sexy Beast V. Am I terrified to be pulling off a book all by myself? Heck, yeah! Am I excited beyond all measure at the same time? You better believe it.

Oh, yes. I have definitely gone completely, utterly nutso. But, hey, it’s been a fun ride to the loony bin.

Thanks to all the Bradford Bunch for having me!

Crystal - congratulations! Wow - that’s so great. As for being insane… I am too. I think I’ve had 5 hours of sleep for the past 3 days [total] - and only 2 hrs down time. And school starts Monday. Gaah.

Congrats! That’s awesome! :) On the grandmother thing…the other day my grandfather sort of walked into a conversation. (I was talking about how funny it is how many paranormal romance writers are such big Buffy and Spike geeks. And how much I love that fact.) My grandfather kind of stumbled into the knowledge that I write romance…involving demons and vampires. hahahahahahaha.

OMG his face! That was priceless. I should carry a camera everywhere. The poor man. I could see it on his face: “She’s going to hell. We didn’t raise her right. How could she write about sex and monsters?”
