Six Things

I decided to do a meme for my post this week.  I love doing Memes.  Fun stuff, that.  So, this one is simple, I just have to list six things about me that you probably don’t know.  So, here goes…
1. I love gummy bears… but they have to be Haribo brand… and if I have them, I eat them and eat them until they are gone. I also eat them by color- white first, my fave. Heh.
2. I don’t own a gazillion pair of shoes as most women do. I was very girlie in high school but now I tend to go for practicality. I prefer my leather Keds (used to wear the canvas but they got dirty too fast) over all others.
3. I have to wear socks all the time. It’s weird, yes I know. But when I was a child I had very severe allergies including skin allergies. If I walked in grass barefoot, walked on nylon carpet, or just went barefoot, I would get a skin-peeling-and-cracking rash that was horribly painful and would only resolve with a prescription salve. It was lovely. This is why I don’t wear sandals. My mother used to make me wear socks with my sandals. I looked like a dork. Sigh.
4. I love coffee with Coffee-Mate French vanilla creamer. I absolutely LOVE it. But the coffee has to be strong.
5. I’m a dessert whore… as you can tell by the size of my ass and.. well, the rest of me. LOL I love it. Cake, tortes, some pies, ice cream, but my favorite is cheesecake and since I don’t get it very often, it’s a real treat when I do.
6. I had a hysterectomy four years ago and they ended up having to remove one ovary but you know what? I’m just as hormonal during PMS time as I was back then. Seriously, I can’t tell by my body when I’d be getting my period, but I can tell by my emotional response when it’s PMS time. You’d think they’d learn how to fix that.

I don’t think I’ll tag anyone, but if you want to do the meme, feel free!  I’d love to hear six things about YOU!

LOL For me it’s Coffemate Hazlenut–liquid. none of that powder crap

  2. Marissa Says:

Shudder. The powdered stuff is icky. Only the liquid for me. I keep meaning to try the Hazelnut. I like the Irish Creme one too. But the French Vanilla…. MMMMMM. LOL

  3. Julie Quesnel Says:

I mix hazelnut and french vanilla coffee beans together….now that, is deelish!

  4. Angie-la Says:

LOL! I can relate to the dessert thing!
    1. Both of my parents were Italian, but I never learned how to speak the language.
    2. I am squeamish about eating off of yellow plates. I think it relates back to my first pregnancy and an incident with a particularly nasty meal!
    3. I hate to talk on the phone. Funny, since I worked in telephone customer service for 10 years!
    4. I prefer dark chocolate over any other kind.
    5. I love campy movies…the sillier and more cliched the better! My favorite is Army of Darkness.

  5. Marissa Scott Says:

Ooooh, Julie that sounds good. Yum!

Angie-La- Both my parents are German and I grew up with my grandparents speaking the language as well as my parents and I know very little of it. I speak a bit of Spanish though.
I think you hate to talk on the phone because you did it for a living for 10 years! I would hate it too! LOL

  6. Denise A. Agnew Says:

    Marissa,
Interesting list. I don’t wear sandals primarily because I need arch supports in my shoes…ones that my foot doctor designed. Don’t work in sandals. :) I feel so much better in my athletic shoes. I’m not a desert whore…so I guess that’s a good thing. I used to own more shoes when I had a job that wasn’t stay at home and write. :) Even then I didn’t have nearly the store of shoes most women have. Go figure.

I’m going to do the meme on my blog day on Thursday…

Angie, I love Army of Darkness. Bruce Campbell rocks out loud. He is so funny. I adore him. Loved all the Evil Dead movies too. I think Sam Raimi is a genius.

    Marissa,
Fun! I love Haribo gummy bears too! (It always surprises me a bit to think that they’re German. Due to the name I generally assumed Japanese.) The white ones are my favorite too, but I save them for last. I eat the orange and yellow ones, and then the red and green, and then the white. I do that with chex mix too - the pretzels, then the wheat chex, then corn chex, then the wheat bagel chips, etc. I guess that’s #1.
    2. I hardly ever wear socks - unless I have to/it’s freezing. More importantly, I don’t wear shoes indoors. Maybe it’s a cultural thing, but it weirds me out a bit. And I hate it when people wear shoes inside my apartments/home etc.
    3. I LOVE LOVE LOVE desserts too. In college I figured a “balanced” diet revolving around desserts. Rhubarb pie for vegetables, fruit pies for fruit, nuts in dessert for protein, etc. :P [Luckily I didn't follow it, or I probably would have died.]
    4. I think too much. Always. Overthinking is bad.
    5. I don’t think I’ve gone to sleep before midnight once in the past 6 years.
    6. I am sick of teen pregnancy being glorified - and what happened in MA might just be proof that there needs to be a change.

  9. Marissa Scott Says:

Denise - I wish I could wear sandals or flip flops at times because my feet get hot and then I sweat. Blech. I, too, have issues with my arches, but I can go part of a day without my good shoes and in a pair of others. No more than that though or OUCHIE.

Vivi- I’m looking forward to reading your meme this week!

Limecello- Seems we have a lot in common. I have tried to leave the white for last, but it doesn’t work. LOL I’m weak! Weak I tell you! I agree 100% about the teen pregnancy thing. Grates on my nerves something fierce.

  10. azteclady Says:

    1) I don’t crave chocolate, so there’s rarely any in the house. If I do eat some, though, it must be dark.
    2) I can pack crystal in checked in luggage (suitcases, not packages) and it gets to its destination intact.
    3) I can still do full splits (I’m 42)
    4) I’m the youngest of five and spoiled rotten (you didn’t know this last)
    5) I like climbing trees. Yes, even with the spider webs, damn them.
    6) I am not afraid of snakes.

  11. Marissa Scott Says:

 Holy smokes, Azteclady! Those are some really interesting facts about you! Tree climbing AND splits! WOW! Impressive. I loathe snakes, but I think I’m more afraid of bugs/insects… they’re smaller and they freak me out more- go figure.

  12. Cynthia Eden Says:

Another dessert whore raising her hand.

  13. Jodi Lynn Copeland Says:

What a fun post! Six things, eh?

I love Coffee Mate, too. Vanilla or Hazelnut. Both are delicious. Strange thing is I have to have my coffee black otherwise. I can’t stand cream or sugar.

I love gummies and jelly beans and runts and sprees and… well really any candy that is springloaded with sugar and would earn me a long talk from my periodontist if she found out. Man, I so hope she never reads this blog!

Dessert is truly an awesome thing! I love it so much, and yet I have days where I don’t like it. Just a wierdo, I am.

I hate feet. Truly, they gross me out. The only exception are small feet. About the time a kid turns six or seven they get all sweaty and gross and go on my big ick list. Meantime my two year old is obessessed with feet. She thinks they are great and always wants to play with everyone else’s. Makes me nauseous watching. Socks, people. Socks!

I am a perfectionist. It’s something I am trying to move past, but I still struggle with it hugely. And this nasty trait makes for a nastier internal struggle when I get bad reviews or feedback, at either the day job or night one.

I am terrible about relaxing. I just have to be doing something or I feel guilty for not doing something. If I am idle, then I am very sick indeed.
