So we all have a movie or musician or book or SOMETHING out there that we wouldn’t want many people to know that we love. And today I’d love it if you fess up. I’ll tell you mine
Here it is. I effing love the movie Robin Hood. What people call the ‘cheesy ass’ version with Kevin Costner from 1991. Maybe it was because I was in middle school when it came out, and it was my first ‘historical’ experience, but I was hooked. I think it began my fascination with England and that time period. And I’ve gotta say, I’m a little skeptical of this NEW Robin Hood coming out this summer with Russell Crowe. Seriously, can’t people make a new movie instead of redoing ones that have already been done? And they’re redoing Romancing the Stone–another classic. Anyway, that’s a whole different rant/topic!

So not only that, but I also loved the cheesy ass song that went along with 1991 Robin Hood: Everything I do, I do it for you by Bryan Adams.
And if you’d like to relive this song (and the terribly fabulous 90’s clothes the band is wearing) and see scenes from the movie, click here. I would’ve pasted the video in, but embedding has been disabled
All right. Now you spill! What’s your guilty pleasure movie/band/song/book/etc.

Oh, I love that movie, too. And… WAIT! Did you say they’re redoing Romancing the Stone?!?! No way. I looooved that movie. Nobody could play that like Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. Just. Wrong.

My favorite guilty pleasure movie is THE BIG EASY. N’awLeans, Dennis Quaid and the Cajun accent–what’s not to love? And it has the best movie love scene EVAH.

Scarlet Pimpernel with Anthony Andrews and Jane Seymour. I know the script by heart because I’ve seen it so many times. Best kind of cheese there is!

My guilty pleasure movie You’ve Got Mail. You just can’t beat a bookstore romance.

Lori, I know that one peeves me off big time! Nobody can do it like Michael and Kathleen!
Marie-Nicole, I need to see that!
Felicia, haven’t heard of it, will look it up!
Elise, that’s a cute one. Can’t go wrong with Tom and Meg!

For me, it’s the Underworld movies. Kate Beckinsale is so gorgeous…and Scott Speedman-whew
My husband thinks I’m nuts, but I watch them all the time

I, um. So… Don’t lynch me, but I really, really liked 50 First Dates. I was positive that I’d I’d hate it, but I ended up adoring it so much. It’s cheesy, yes, it’s weird, yes, it’s got obnoxious bits, yes, but it was so sincere! I really, really rooted for them, and that ending, oh… just makes my heart squeeze.
My other guilty pleasure? Role Models. I haven’t laughed so hard in my life (being a LARP geek, of course). Those are the two I don’t mention often in my “top movies”, but there you go.

This is a great blog, Shelli!
Well, I have to admit I agree with you on Robin Hood and the song in the movie. Cheesy? Maybe. But it was fun.
My guilty pleasures, hmmm, I guess in movies it would be Casino Royale (I LOVE 007 movies
). Books it’s Dangerous Grounds (always will be).

BTW I loved your book Dangerous Grounds.
My guilty pleasures are the movies: Ever After, You’ve Got Mail, While You were Sleeping. I’ve just added The Ugly Truth. I watch it every time it’s on.

OK, it isn’t a romance, but for some reason every time the movie Boogie Nights would come on HBO I would stop surfing and put down the remote. I don’t know what it is about that movie, but it’s like a train wreck for me.

Karina, that actually has a big fan base. 50 first dates. It depressed me more than uplifted me. LOL. But I’m weird that way!
Casey & Mary, thank you so much!! I loved While You Were Sleeping! Gotta see Casino Royale (I know, my totally bad!)
Johnny, you’re too funny. I’ve got a brand new pair of rollerskates…

Cheryl, you got stuck in spam! I pulled ya out! I love the Underworld movies! They’re fabulous. Good following too

I actually like the Robin Hood version with Kevin Costner.
Even if it’s too bad he didn’t try an accent. Looking forward to the Russell Crowe version.
As for guilty pleasures? Don’t have them any more because I figured out that it’s okay for me to like movies and books and other things that may not be popular or well liked by others.
And it’s lovely to be free of the guilt.

I love, love, LOVE the movie Hamlet 2. Every writer should see it. When the hero is trying to write his play, it’s so me. I sing “Rock Me Sexy Jesus” all the time and have WWSJD flair on my Facebook. I’m a total geek over it.

I like that movie, too, Shelli.

K, Shelli don’t laugh but seriously I watch Porky’s at least twice a year. For Reals.

Amber, never seen it, want to!
Cindy, Yay I’m not alone!
Juliana, I haven’t seen it! Heard it’s awesome. I’ve seen Revenge of the Nerds though (when I was like 8 or something! Saw my first nude scene that way! LOL)
